For four nights this week, ISEA is hosting Delegate Orientations over the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) to introduce to our members a sampling of what they can look forward to on April 3-4 in Ames.
Our origination site all week (Monday-Thursday) is the Saydel High School ICN room. Our first night we had a dozen leaders present at our location from from Polk Suburban UniServ Unit.
Also connected on Monday were: Geode UniServ Unit from the New London High School; Mid-Iowa UniServ Unit from both Ames High School and Marshalltown Community College; and State Unit Nine from both Ottumwa High School and Oskaloosa Public Library.
Tuesday night we were joined at the Saydel High School origination site with two members from South Central UniServ Unit; Bill Miller from Van Meter and Raeann Thomas from Interstate 35.
Joining us Tuesday from remote locations were: Cedar Wood and East Central UniServ Units from the Iowa City Public Library; and South Central UniServ Unit from the Indianola City Administration building.
Wednesday was a huge night with many members at various sites connecting! ISEA Executive Director Jan Reinicke (standing) started tonight's session as I was a part of a conference call with other state presidents. Assisting all week was Diane Halter (seated) Saydel Media Specialist. We were joined by JDC UniServ Unit from the Dubuque Forum and Bellevue High School; NEIEU from the Fayette Public Library; Northern Pride from Boyden-Hull High School; Southwest UniServ Unit from Red Oak Community Center; and Unit Two from both Eldora-New Providence High School and Nora Springs-Rock Falls High School.
Thursday, our final Delegate Orientation had the most UniServ Units participating! We were connected to: Great River UniServ Unit at Davenport's Kimberly Center; Hawkeye UniServ Unit from AEA 267 in Cedar Falls; Lincolnway UniServ Unit at Carroll-Kuemper High School; Mississippi Bend UniServ Unit from Pleasant Valley High School; Siouxland UniServ Unit from Sioux City West High School; and UniServ Unit 10 from both Estherville Community College and Algona National Guard. Assisting me on Thursday was Team ISEA Associate Executive Director for Business Services John Hanrahan (pictured above).
Delegates have the opportunity to review the 2008 Delegate Assembly Agenda and Handbook; view videos from 3 candidates running for ISEA President and 3 candidates running for ISEA Vice President; review proposed Amendments, Resolutions and New Business Items; view a video reviewing the proposed ISEA Budget; and learn of fundraising efforts to take place.
It will be an exciting 2008 Delegate Assembly full of opportunities for members to have their voices heard and move ISEA forward for the coming year!
