With After School Time Comes Time to Help Recommended Candidates

As the school day on Wednesday, September 13th wound down, it was then time to gather to make phone calls on behalf of recommended candidate Art Staed (standing, visiting with me). Art is a Cedar Rapids middle school Social Studies teacher and long-time association member.

Also making phone calls for Art are: Tammy Wawro, Cedar Rapids Mentoring and Induction Facilitator and president of CWUU (seated at left); Ray Feuss (seated on right) CREA’s Membership Chairperson. Ray is a 4th grade teacher at Erskine Elementary in Cedar Rapids. Ray is also the Chair of the ISEA New Business and Resolutions Committee; Ann Morris (seated at left in blue) full-time release CREA “Resolutions” person. It is Ann’s full-time position to “solve” problems in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Ann must be effective, there have been NO grievances filed in Cedar Rapids since 1994! Ann is the CedarWood UU representative to ISEA’s Protecting Member’s Rights Committee; Sara Yarbrough (wearing the sweatshirt at right) is an elementary teacher at Gibson Elementary in Cedar Rapids. Sara was elected Chair of the CREA Faculty Reps; Jennie Pfeiffer (with short sleeved top) is an elementary teacher at Hoover Elementary in Cedar Rapids. I first met Jennie in July when we were a part of the group that spent three days at the ISEA Headquarters building on being trained as “trainers” for the Real Colors. Jennie is CedarWood’s representative to the ISEA Better Teaching and Learning Committee; and finally Sunny Story (wearing pink at right), president of CROTA--the Cedar Rapids Organization of Teacher Associates. Sunny was the 2004 NEA ESP of the Year!

Thanks CREA and CROTA leaders for all you do for students during the day and for all your help in electing ISEA PAC's recommended candidates!
