Team ISEA Members Gather for Pizza 'N Politics from Unit Two

This evening nearly 35 Team ISEA members from Unit Two gathered at the Godfather's Pizza in Hampton for an opportunity to visit about politics with state policy makers and their colleagues.

The early arrivals participated in "Caucus Training" for the first hour, then as others arrived we enjoyed a buffet of pizza!

I had the chance to give some welcoming remarks to start the evening as this begins my final "tour" of Unit Two. I will visit Unit Two locals on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week!

As Team ISEA members introduced themselves, they shared concerns from their classrooms, from their school districts and from their communities. We had gathered some of the most caring and compassionate educators representing us tonight as they shared what weighs heavy on their hearts!

Three state Senators joined us this evening as well as one state Representative. State Senator Amanda Regan, Senate District 7 (at right) was the first to arrive from the Mason City area.

State Senator Bill Heckroth (SD 9) from Waverly (at left) joined us this evening. Bill was generous in giving ISEA members from his area credit in making a difference in his being elected to the state Senate.

State Representative McKinley Bailey, House District 9 (on the left) from Webster City and state Senator Rich Olive, Senate District 5 (on the right) from Story City joined us for the evening too. Both legislators got involved in the dialogue with Team ISEA members as they had follow-up questions regarding concerns arising from the classroom.

Leading the discussion on ISEA's legislative priorities for the 2008 session was Team ISEA Lobbyist Brad Hudson (on the left). Brad is pictured here with Unit Two Administrative Assistant, Michele Alden. Michele works side by side with UniServ Directors Cindy Carol and Sandra G. in our Hampton ISEA Regional Office.

Great event, Unit Two Team ISEA!
