U.S. Senator Tom Harkin Announces Run For 5th Term

Getting an early start to the day this morning U.S. Senator Tom Harkin and his wife, Ruth, announced from the Celebration Barn in Warren County he is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate at an 8:30 a.m. event. Senator Harkin has a full day ahead with a six city tour!

Over 200 people gathered for the much anticipated announcement from Senator Harkin. U.S. Senator Tom Harkin has served four-six year terms in the United States Senate and with today's announcement he is working towards his 5th term!


Ruth Harkin introduced her husband to the crowd of friends and long-time supporters in Tom Harkin's hometown of Cumming, Iowa. The Harkins own a home in Cumming.


U.S. Senator Tom Harkin chairs both the Senate Agriculture Committee as well as the Appropriations Committee for Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education. Team ISEA/NEA are most proud of Senator Harkin's advocacy for students and all Americans with disabilities.

Educators all across Iowa will work alongside Senator Harkin in this fall's campaign to get him re-elected!
