Also serving as co-president of the GCEA is Karah Bomga

We next dropped in on the 2nd grade classroom of Jackie Hampe. Ms. Hampe's class was involved in reading stations. Pictured at right is Ms. Hampe working with one group of students.

In Sue Graham's 2nd grade class (pictured at left) I read aloud the

Two of our classroom visits took us into Mr. Frank Williams' 5th grade Social Studies. Mr. Williams was on jury duty, so unfortunately we didn't get to meet him. His homeroom is pictured here on the right. He has both sections of 5th grade for Social Studies.

Just two more classes to go, then it is lunch time! We next visited the Kindergarten classroom of Jama Johnson. Jama (seated on left) is pictured with her teacher associate and Kindergarten class. I read aloud the book Tops and Bottoms. I always think it is a pretty good "fit" for fall and the harvest time.

The last elementary classroom we visited in Grundy Center was the 4th grade classroom of Kim Petersen. Her 4th graders were just finishing up their timed multiplication test as we awaited our turn. Can you spot Kim in the middle of her 4th graders?!

Finishing our school lunch with staff from the elementary building, we were next off to the Middle/High School. Here we connected with Team ISEA member Mary Ver Ploeg. Mary (pictured on the right) is here with Unit 2 UniServ Director Cindy Carroll. Mary is the High School/ Middle School Guidance Counselor. Mary gave us a great tour through the building, stopping along the way to introduce us to staff. We had a chance to stop and visit with students from Christine Bangasser's 7th grade Reading/Language Arts class and Mr. John Baade's High School World Studies class.
At the end of the school day we got to observe Mr. Andrew Van Hooreweghe's 6th grade Band class. It was just an awesome day! Thanks, co-presidents Karah Bomgaars and Sue Graham for your leadership! You have a great team of leaders and members in the Grundy Center EA! Thanks for all you do every day!

And after a full day in the classroom, educators gathered to support one of our own. Sharon Owens, Kindergarten teacher in North Tama and candidate for Iowa House District 40 (pictured on the left) has joined others gathered to door knock in Grundy Center for her campaign. Joining Sharon (besides me taking the picture) is from right to left, Cindy Carroll, Unit 2 UniServ Director; Andrew Van Hooreweghe, Middle School/High School Band teacher and Chief Negotiator; Jeremy Kunz, NEIEU UniServ Director; Grundy Center 5th grade teacher; and Sharon Owens. We are so proud to have one of own putting herself out on the line to run for office!
