Oskloosa Elementary Kicks Off Our Red Ribbon Week
Following our breakfast meeting at Oasis, UniServ Director Carol Haupert and I traveled across town to Oskaloosa Elementary. Some 1,060 students attend school in this building, headed by 3 school principals (K-1; 2-3; and 4-5).
Upon our arrival we met up with local EA member/leader Mrs. Janet Wagner, one of 3 school counselors. Janet is pictured here (on the right) with State Unit Nine UniServ Director Carol Haupert(standing on the left). Janet gave us a tour of the school facility. We learned in our visit that there are 7 Kindergarten classrooms, 9 First Grade classrooms, 8 Second Grade classrooms, 8 Third Grade classrooms, 7 Fourth Grade classrooms, and 7 Fifth Grade classrooms.
We stopped for a few moments along our tour by the classroom of long-time association activist J. Fink. Here (at left) J. is pictured with students from his 4th grade homeroom.
The final classroom stop along our tour was in the homeroom of Ms. Papae Combs, Kindergarten teacher. I had the chance to read aloud a favorite book to her homeroom. Here (on the right) Ms. Combs is pictured with her Kindergarten class all dressed in red for Red Ribbon Week. They were such great listeners!
