Unit 10 Tour Begins with Annual President's Dinner in Whittemore

On Tuesday evening, October 16th nearly 50 Team ISEA members from Unit 10 gathered in Whittemore at the Whittemore Golf Club for their Annual President's Dinner.

Jodi Erpelding (at left) Team ISEA Secretary in the Emmetsburg office, greeted and registered guests as they arrived. So many of our leaders call frequently to their Unit offices and speak with our staff and never have the opportunity to put a face to the voice. Unit trainings and dinners are great opportunities to connect leaders with our great staff.

Steve King (at right) Unit 10 UniServ Director greeted members upon their arrival and helped assist the Unit Executive Board in getting their meeting underway. I am most grateful for Steve and the awesome job he's done the past four years in putting together schedules for me when I've "toured" Unit 10.

NEA Member Benefits staff made brief presentations on A+ Auto and Home, NEA Value Builder as well as other products available to only NEA members.

Mary Jane Cobb of NEA's Campaigns and Elections spoke of NEA's positive agenda in making needed changes to the current No Child Left Behind Law. Mary Jane encouraged all members to go to the NEA website (or ISEA website) and go to the link for the Legislative Action Center http://www.nea.org/lac/index.html and write a message to our Iowa Members of Congress on making needed changes to the current law.

It was so much fun for me to reconnect with Unit 10 leaders again! I have met so many of these great leaders in their own school buildings and work sites, at their local association meetings, and at Unit gatherings in the past. I shall always remember the special work you do every day as well as your warm hospitality. You truly are a special group of leaders that have dedicated your lives, your professions to making a difference for students!

Unit 10 Executive Board distributed Membership Awards at the dinner Tuesday night too. Approximately two dozen awards were given (categories set by the Unit board) to local leaders and local associations. It was a great celebration as Unit 10 has increased their membership!

Thanks to all Unit 10 leaders and staff for the great work you do every day on behalf of Team ISEA! We are lucky to have you as leaders on Team ISEA!
