A Visit to the Ames EA Building Rep Meeting Makes a Visit to Mid-Iowa UniServ Unit

On Monday, October 22 I had the opportunity to see one of our great young association leaders in action as I visited the Ames Education Association's monthly Building Rep meeting at Ames High School.

Ames Education Association leaders filed into the Conference Room off of the High School's cafeteria at the end of their school day Monday to participate with others from across the district.

Andrew Buttermore (at left) is a high school band instructor and is serving as President of the Ames Education Association. President Buttermore had full agenda planned for the two dozen association leaders in attendance.

The agenda included a Negotiations update as well as sharing of plans for American Education Week (November 11-17), and results of meetings with district administration over concerns from the association.

AEA leaders who arrived early enjoyed conversation with their colleagues along with refreshments.

AEA leader and member of the Mid-Iowa UniServ Unit Executive Board, Dawn Remsburg (at right) reported on Ames EA membership. Dawn applauded the efforts of all for maintaining the membership at last year's level--considering the number of retirements. Dawn reminded the leaders that membership is a year-round activity and thanked them for their efforts.

I would like to thank President Buttermore for his leadership and all Ames EA leaders for the work they do on behalf of Team ISEA!
