The Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration Begins at Jackson Elementary

ISEA Protecting Member Rights member from CedarWood UniServ Unit and Kindergarten teacher (pictured at left) Tania Johnson, has her Cat in the Hat shirt on ready to lead her class. Tania organized a wonderful morning for Kindergarten and 1st graders at Jackson Elementary by kicking the day off with an assembly where I was the guest reader.

Don't you think that my photo here on the right makes me look a bit like a "rock star"? Okay, maybe not! It was such fun to have an audience of Kindergarten and 1st graders giggle to the fun with language that Dr. Seuss has written for all of us to share through the ages.

Teacher associate and CROTA member, Deb Fink, prepares green eggs and ham as one of the breakout sessions for Jackson Elementary Kindergarten and 1st grade students. As Deb prepared the feast, Tania Johnson read, Green Eggs and Ham to the students. Tania and Deb make an awesome team!

Another great team of educators at Jackson Elementary are Deb Rahe (on left) teacher associate and CROTA member; and Lisa Reid (with the hat), Kindergarten teacher and CREA leader. I first met Lisa a year ago at NEA Midwest Regional in St. Louis. How lucky we are to have Lisa in a leadership role for Team ISEA!

Linda Herman (holding book), CREA member and 1st grade Jackson teacher, reads to a combined group of Kindergarten and 1st graders as a part of the Seuss Celebration.

First grade teacher and CREA member, Dana Russell got into the spirit of the Seuss Celebration by donning a "Thing 1 and Thing 2" shirt. Here Deb is reading aloud, I Wish I Had Duck Feet, to students. When the read aloud was over, students drew pictures of what animal part they wish they could add to their own bodies.

Thanks, Jackson CREA and CROTA members for the excitement you add to the learning environment each day!
