Northern Pride “President’s Dinner” at the Sanborn Golf and Country Club

Members of the Northern Pride Executive Board and state committee members, along with local EA presidents gathered at the Sanborn Golf and Country Club for dinner on Wednesday night.

Greeting members upon their arrival was Neil Bracker (at right) Middle School teacher at MOC Floyd Valley and Northern Pride UniServ Unit President.

Also a part of the "welcoming committee" were Denise Nemmers (on the left) UniServ Secretary in the Emmetsburg office and Jo Holles (on the right) Middle School teacher in Sheldon.

Geneva Grooters (at right) is the Northern Pride UniServ Unit's representative to the ISEA Executive Board. Geneva is a Nationally Board certified teacher and teaches 4th grade at Central Lyon in Rock Rapids.

Mabel Mantel and her husband were also dinner guests at the Northern Pride dinner. Mabel represents the UniServ Unit on the ISEA Retired Committee.

I shared Team ISEA’s goals from last year: 1) building membership (up statewide by 600 members) and 2) working to elect “Friends of Education” (a new majority party in both the Iowa House and Senate whose top priority are students and public education as well as a Governor that was an ISEA member/classroom teacher). This year the Executive Board set goals: 1) continue to build membership; 2) work to implement education policy in local associations; and 3) work to make needed changes to NCLB.

I recognized the following eight locals from Northern Pride for their percentage of membership contributing to ISEA-PAC:

7th place: LeMars EA 60.67% contributing
6th place: Sheldon EA 61.90% contributing
5th place: Spirit Lake EA 71.95% contributing
4th place: Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn EA 80.56% contributing
3rd place: Boyden-Hull EA 84.85% contributing
2nd place: Sioux Central EA 90% contributing
1st place (tie): Central-Lyon EA and George-Little Rock EA 100% contributing

Northern Pride UniServ Unit is improving in ISEA-PAC contributions! Keep working, Team ISEA! I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your leadership on Team ISEA!

Off to the Super 8 in Rock Valley (the community where my day began) so I’ll be closer to my start for Thursday!
