Cedar Rapids Area Educators Come Together to Form a Health Care Group

On Wednesday, September 13th I arrived in Cedar Rapids in time to have lunch with two CREA leaders, Gary Anhalt and Brenda Hack, prior to their MIIP meeting. Gary is the CREA full-time release president and is a member of the Metro Interagency Insurance Program Board (MIIP) and Brenda, a Special Education teacher at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School is Gary's alternate. MIIP is a self-insured group made up of metro-Cedar Rapids educators in: Linn-Mar, Marion, Cedar Rapids, College Community, Kirkwood Community College, and Grant Wood AEA. It was interesting as an outsider to observe--and my, did they all know their stuff! I applaud the efforts of groups of educators to find a solution to making health care benefits work!
