Iowa City EA Faculty Reps Gather

After a full day of school on Wednesday, September 13th, Iowa City EA faculty reps and association leadership met for their monthly meeting. Leading the ICEA meeting was president Lindsay Stangeland (standing). Lindsay is one of my all-time favorite young leaders! Lindsay is a respected classroom teacher and a dedicated association leader. I am grateful for the mentoring and continued leadership that Barb Henke (seated at right) continues to provide Lindsay and to the ICEA.

I first of all was impressed at this meeting by the great turnout of EA leaders, but also by their level of energy and involvement in all the issues before them. Numerous committees reported--with a great number of members involved. Very impressive, ICEA!

One committee chair that addressed the faculty reps was middle school teacher Sue Dvorsky (standing at left). Sue (and her husband, state Senator Bob Dvorsky) are long-time friends of mine. How lucky ICEA is to have such an advocate as Sue working alongside your leadership on your behalf.

Also a part of the ICEA faculty rep meeting were East Central UniServ Unit Directors Coy Marquardt (seated on left) and Dave Ulrick (seated on right). Both UniServ Directors spoke of the importance of getting involved in this fall's election because of the impact that state policy makers have on the classroom and public education. Dave and Coy make a great team! ECUU (and Team ISEA) is lucky to have two such dedicated professionals working on our behalf!
