A Full Day in Fort Dodge Visiting Terrific Schools

Local Ft. Dodge EA president Doug Brightman put together a jam-packed day of great opportunities to connect with members in many of the Ft. Dodge schools for Monday, September 18th. Our first stop was at the Ft. Dodge Senior High where we met up with Ft. Dodge EA Secretary, Michelle Vrba. Michelle (pictured with Doug) got in the spirit for Home Coming for Monday wearing a "Ghost Busters" costume. Michelle is a high school Math teacher at Senior High. Doug is a 4th grade teacher at Duncombe Elementary.

While at Senior High, Doug made arrangements for the Fort Dodge Messenger (daily newspaper) to interview me. The article appeared the following day, front page and above the fold! As I traveled throughout central Iowa over the next three days, I felt like a celebrity--many folks had read the article!

In addition to visiting members at Ft. Dodge Senior High, President Doug and I visited the following elementary buildings: Feelhaver, Butler, Duncombe, and Hillcrest. We also visited Phillips Middle School members and had lunch with the 2nd and 3rd lunch folks. It was a terrific day and I am certain that Doug introduced me to at least 50 of the Ft. Dodge members.

In Fort Dodge, Team ISEA negotiates 5 different contracts for 3 affiliates. The EA groups are: SCEA: Secretaries and Clerical EA members (one contract); MEBU: Maintenance and Bus Drivers EA (two separate contracts); and FDEA: Teachers and Teacher Associates (two separate contracts). We are so glad you are all on our team, Team ISEA!
