Helping a True Friend of Educators in Cedar Falls & Waterloo

As the school day ended on Wednesday, October 18th, the road took us back to Waterloo area. We had earlier planned to door knock with ISEA recommended candidate Representative Bob Kressig (pictured at left), but with rain throughout the day, Rep. Kressig’s campaign switched gears and had us make phone calls to ISEA members. UniServ Director Jeremy Kunz and I spent 90 minutes at Bob and Liz Kressig’s dining room table making calls to ISEA members to secure support for Rep. Kressig’s re-election. Rep. Kressig, despite the rainy weather, went door knocking for a couple of hours!

At 6:30 p.m. a “postcard party” ensued! The dining room filled with a dozen volunteers—a weekly event, to do hand-written postcards. We wrote postcards to ISEA members for the next 90 minutes before calling it a day. Also joining us to write postcards were NEA Director Jim Young (seated on the left), 4th grade teacher at Hansen Elementary in Cedar Falls and Jeff Orvis (seated on the right), High School Science teacher at Waverly-Shellrock.

And the campaign "secret weapon", Liz Kressig! Liz (pictured on the left) is a para-professional at Peet Middle School in Cedar Falls and a local association leader. Liz said that out of no-where, volunteers appear every single Wednesday night to write postcards. I think it's not only because they believe in the great candidate (her husband, Rep. Bob Kressig), but because they heard what yummy snacks Liz provides for volunteers throughout the evening.

Linda,
I just wanted to thank you again, for visiting our home and for your effort to help re-elect Bob, to the Iowa House. He had one of the toughest campaigns in Iowa and won with only a little over 100 votes.
You work tirelessly for the ISEA and I respect you, for all of the time and commitment you make!
Thanks! Liz Kressig
