Dining Out With Great Association Leaders (and friends) in Iowa City

As the school day ended Wednesday, I headed back in the direction of Iowa City. A quick stop at Barnes and Noble (and a new read aloud for my collection), I met up with friends at Chilis.

The first to arrive was Nancy Porter. Nancy has been a long-time friend who actually grew up in Council Bluffs. Nancy is a Reading Recovery teacher at Hills Elementary in the Iowa City Community Schools and the representative on the ISEA Executive Board for East Central UniServ Unit.

One of my favortie young leaders (and friends) is Lindsay Stangeland. Lindsay is an pre-school handicapped teacher in the Iowa City Community Schools and the president of the Iowa City Education Association. Lindsay is half way through her Masters program at the University of Iowa and was later heading to class for a test. Now here is another great example of how teachers/educators really do it all! The instructional leader in her classroom, taking charge of her own professional development by working towards her Masters degree, and serving the association as its top leader!
It was such fun to not only catch up on the professional lives of these great association leaders, but to hear how their families (and Lindsay's new puppy) are doing too.

Thanks Nancy and Lindsay for your leadership in the Iowa City EA and on Team ISEA!
