On to Clayton Ridge Primary Building Visit in Guttenberg

For the remainder of our Wednesday morning, the road led us to the primary building in Guttenberg for Clayton Ridge Community Schools. The first classroom visit took us to Diane Bockenstedt's 4th grade homeroom. Diane (standing in the middle in the back) has student teacher Kari Pleggenkuhle working with her (on the right) for the next 8 weeks. I read aloud the picture book Diary of a Spider, by Doreen Cronin. Prior to reading I asked the students to keep in mind something they might like to write in a diary . When we finished they had lots of great ideas they might use when they had their assigned work complete and would have time to do some writing.

I next had the opportunity to read to a combined group of two classes of Kindergarten. On the left is Ellen Johnson's homeroom and on the right Sherie Tujetsch's room.

I read aloud the book What Are You So Grumpy About?, by Tom Lichtenheld. The children all practiced sticking out their lower lip and by the end of the reading they were rolling in laughter. It is a fun book and gets everyone in a great mood!

The last classroom visit in Clayton Ridge Primary building was in the 2nd grade classroom of Sue Leonhart. Sue (standing on the left in back) is pictured with her homeroom along with building principal Mrs. Oliver (center) and teacher associate (on right) Hillary Wahls. I again read aloud the book What Are You So Grumpy About?, by Tom Lichtenheld.

I would have to say (in the words of Garrison Keillor), "The children are delightful, the teachers and support staff are hard working, and the schools are above average!"
